I have no doubt that we could obtain Warders and for Police Constables - (Metropolitan).

The Warders get Quarters allowance in addition. £24 to £30
Much of this is offset as they have Lodging consequently better than Constables.
But Constables have the opportunity of being "Station Sergeants" at from £105 to £145 and also Inspectors at £145 to £190 a year.
Mr. Fanfell thought Expenses to do the duties of Turnkeys at Hong Kong Mr. £90 a year; but looking to the pay of Warders in England as stated above £90 a year would tempt any of them to quit the English service for the Pension. I think half as much again is roughly what tempts people to go abroad.
Mr. Branston's suggestion is to send the Ford Turnkeys. The only question is the pay to be offered - Sergeants of Police by order of European Staff, £90. Also, Strutting, &c., should have Knight... We let 15% would not be too much in opinion as the worth of 15). 1877) per annum.
